This summer, the Cawker City Hesperian Historical Society will be restoring the east wall of the 1879 "Ledger" building. Our immediate need is to raise $2,000 for the materials which will be used to stabilize the original limestone firewall of the second story as well as clean up, re-point and improve the lower. thicker portion of the wall. In addition, we would like to raise enough money to purchase the cypress lumber we need to complete the restoration of the cornice in the front of the building. Last summer (2018) we began our restoration project but we lacked sufficient funds to purchase the additional cypress lumber we needed for the cornice. All work is being done by experienced volunteers and all funds raised will be used exclusively to purchase materials used in the restoration project. The building will ultimately be used for much needed additional display and research space for our Cawker City Museum.
